Join us for a wonderful escape from the modern world on a unique and rare digital detox vacation. For four days, your feet (and our outstanding guides!) will lead you on an adventure through a remote wilderness that will invigorate your soul.

These multi-day trips are offered from May through mid-June and September through October. From the first night at the historic Morrisons Lodge to the van ride back to where you began, this trip is an all-inclusive adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy our four-course gourmet dinner overlooking the Rogue River at Morrisons Lodge the night before your trip, and our Country Breakfast Buffet before your trip departure.

Our lodge-to-lodge raft-supported hiking trips begin at Grave Creek trailhead about 30 miles west of the town of Grants Pass. The elevation at the trailhead is 689 feet and at Foster Bar, the elevation is 474. There are ups and downs, forest and meadow, and a raft to ride whenever you please. The trip takes 4 days and 4 nights.

The Paradise Hike is a special version of this trip that includes a night at Black Bar Lodge and two nights at Paradise Lodge. As a bonus, you will float the Rogue River’s most exciting rapid: Blossom Bar. This is for people who have gone on our hikes and want to explore another itinerary on this famous trail, those that would like to try their hand a Blossom Bar Rapid, and those that want a few more miles on the trail (4 more miles total).

Wonderful Hiking/Rafting Adventure on the Wild and Scenic Rogue River"Our hiking club spent 5 days hiking and rafting down the 42 miles of the 'wild and scenic' portion of the Rogue River from just below Merlin to just above Agness, Oregon. Bald eagles, herons and ospreys were in abundance and we even had a black bear and mink sighting along the River. The Morrison Lodge in Merlin did a great job of outfitting our trip and our 3 river guides, Tessa, Dan and Bob, were absolutely peerless! Knowledgeable, so helpful and safety conscious, these 3 were our essential hosts to experience what is literally another world.   • Raft is available to ride on for a change of scenery or to rest tired legs.
  • A unique, family owned Wilderness lodge each night.
  • Great food, lunches served trail-side, fun dinners at lodges each evening.
  • End: 4:30 pm back at Morrisons Rogue River Lodge.
  • What’s Included: All meals, guides, lodge nights, rafts, transportation to and from river, the first night’s stay at Morrisons Rogue River Lodge.
  • Not Included: Adult beverages, guide gratuity, and Government access fees.

Trail Day 1: 11 miles to Black Bar Lodge
Trail Day 2: 15 miles to Marial Lodge (Common for hikers to ride the raft part of the day.)
Trail Day 3: 7 miles to Paradise Lodge
Trail Day 4: 12 miles to Foster Bar boat ramp

Paradise Trip Daily Mileage

Trail Day 1: 10 miles to Jenny Creek Camp or below
Trail Day 2: 10 miles to Rogue River Ranch Camp (common for hikers to ride the raft part of the day)
Trail Day 3: 6 miles upriver to Rogue River Ranch and back (12 miles total)
Trail Day 4: 12 miles to Foster Bar boat ramp

2024 Hiking Trips – All Information

 

  1. Night 1 Night 1
    • 5:45 pm – Your trip will begin with a meet and greet with your guides and fellow hikers. You receive your bags to pack your overnight gear in. Meet in front of Morrisons Lodge front office.
    • 6:45 pm – Seating on Morrisons deck for your four-course, pre-fixed gourmet dinner.
  2. Trail Day 1 Trail Day 1
    • 7:00 am – Country Breakfast Buffet is available. Please inform the front desk when you would like to join breakfast upon check-in.
    • 8:30 am – Meet your guides in front of Morrisons front office. Have water shoes and alcohol/ extra beverages separate.
    • 8:45 am – Trail Orientation talk at Morrisons Lodge.
    • 9:30 am – Arrive at Trailhead.
    • 9:40 am – Final Trip and Trail Talks.
    • 10:15-10:30 am – On the trail.
    • 4:30 pm – Ride across the river to Black Bar Lodge.
    • 6:00 pm – Appetizers and Dinner. Wine Tasting after Dinner. The generator is turned off at 10:00 pm.
  3. Trail Day 2 Trail Day 2
    • 7:30 am – Breakfast
    • 9:00 am – Load boats and cross the river back to the trail. (Common for hikers to ride in the raft for 4 miles to shorten hike.)
    • 10:00 am – Hiking on the trail. Lunch trail-side.
    • 4:00 pm – Arrive at Marial Lodge.
    • 6:00 pm – Dinner and fun evening at Marial Lodge. The generator is on all night.
  4. Trail Day 3 Trail Day 3
    • 8:00 am – Breakfast, relax, and have another cup of coffee.
    • 9:30 am – Be ready to hike.
    • 10:00 am – Hike up the trail to Rogue River Ranch and visit the museum, optional side hike to creek.
    • 1:00 pm – Hike down the river to Paradise Lodge, lunch on the deck.
    • 2:00 pm – Enjoy a day at one of the nation’s most remote lodges. Small hikes available, read a book in a hammock, take a nap, swim in the creek.
  5. Trail Day 4 Trail Day 4
    • 7:30 am – Breakfast
    • 8:30 am – On the trail.
    • 12:00 pm – Lunch at beautiful Flora Dell Falls.
    • 2:00 pm – Finish hike at Foster Bar boat ramp.

     

    Take Out Instructions

    Foster Bar is 26 miles from the city of Gold Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Morrisons Rogue Wilderness Adventures vans will pick you up and bring you back to our offices. However, since you’re so close to the ocean, you can have your car shuttled to Foster Bar for an additional costHS, and then visit the Redwoods or other parts of the Oregon Coast. Typical drive time back to Morrisons Lodge is 2.5 hours with arrival at about 4:30 pm.
